Prospective: A Journal of Speculation hopes to provide a place for quality speculative fiction in both prose and poetry. This will not be your grandmother’s journal. We hope to expose readers to new voices and worlds they have only dreamed about reading. 

We plan to release four issues a year, both in print and via pdf download. To cover printing costs we will be charging $3+SH for each book. At this time we will be offering a copy of the printed chapbook to all contributors.

We will open submissions for our very first edition “Werewolves and other bitches” on January 5th, 2012. We hope to release “Werewolves and other bitches” on the ides of March (March 15th).

No your story does not have to be about a werewolf, or a dog, or a bitch, but those manuscripts that seem relevant to the theme/title of the edition will likely tickle our funny bones and achieve greater success.

All we ask is that you send us a wonderful story or poem that can be classified as speculative fiction. Historical fiction, fantasy, science fiction, horror, etc. what matters to us is the quality of the writing, imagery, and narrative structure(prose). 

Please send all manuscripts in 12pt Times New Roman in microsoft word, unless you have a very good reason to break these conventions, poets I’m talking to you. 

We also will be looking for artists. We hope to include cover art as well as narrative scenes relating to the stories in each chapbook. We want to make art more collaborative and by having pieces inspired by the stories we hope to enrich the imagery created by the narratives.
